Sneak Peaks and Nursery Rhymes

Our week-in-review includes a sneak-peak from Wizard of Oz Rehearsals and some more classical music and nursery rhyme fun from the lower grades. We also have an example from our iPad application as demonstrated by a kindergartner.

Musical Rehearsals for Grades 3-8 are underway. Here is a copy of the Rehearsal Calendar for the remainder of the rehearsal process (from now to March 11). You can also visit the PRIS Music & Library Blog. On the right side of the page, there is a Google Calendar Rehearsal Schedule. If you press the + sign in the bottom right, you can add it to your own Google Calendar.

All students have started a piano unit that will last until Spring Break. Pre-K will utilize a color-coded learning method while other students will practice once per week using keyboard method books with Western notation.

In addition, students in K-8 will use an iPad application called Piano Maestro, which is free to PRIS students since they already have accounts. Grades 3-8 should know their account information and the application can be used at home. If your student is in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade, please contact me if you are interested in using the iPad app. at home.

Students who take private piano lessons are welcome to bring their own books and music. Piano days are:

PreK- Tuesdays and Thursdays
Kindergarten- Mondays
Grades 1/2- Wednesdays
Grades 3/4 – Fridays

Grades 5-8- Thursdays

When not playing piano, students in Grades 1-8 will be learning music, choreography and drama for the musical and our ECC students will be learning about classical music and nursery rhymes.

In library, students were read books about adoption, discussing how to welcome our new student, arriving soon. The students were thoughtful, knowledgable and aware, but may still have questions. Students are encouraged to ask an adult or middle schooler to make sure they get their questions answered.
