Last Week of Hilariousness

This was our last week to celebrate our #hilariousheroes. But our silly faces posted on our Instagram (handle: prismusiclibrary). #humormonth#hilariousheroes #sillyfaces and #hilarioushero videos on our YouTube Page, will keep us ROTFL for months to come! Here's our last #hilarioushero video, hosted by Grades 5-8.

And here is Kindergarten practicing their new sound story.

With the Middle School away this week, Grade 5 students have been exploring GarageBand to get ready for their Poetry & Lyric Projects.

Kindergarten students are performing a new sound story, a story told with instruments and sounds. The students loved this activity and will perfect it over the coming weeks.

Pre-K is seen practicing for their concert.

And Grade 1/2 is learning to play the recorder!

The concert will now take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. I'm excited to share this time with the students and families of PRIS.

Practice videos can be found on the YouTube Playlist or downloaded in the Google Drive Folder.

As our time at PRIS comes to a close, we would like to give each student the opportunity to take books from the classroom and school library. Please fill out this form so we can better facilitate this process, including the last question which is the date by which you would like these books to come home. Please submit the form by May 1.

There will be no blog entry next week due to the short week. Look for more posts, videos, recordings, and resources on the blog and PRIS Music & Library YouTube page (and subscribe!) and feel free to share with families. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram. The YouTube and Blog account will remain functional after the school closes, so feel free to keep sharing posts and videos with friends and family!

Meanwhile, in Music

It's true, April has been filled with comedy. From all of the silly faces posted on our Instagram (handle: prismusiclibrary). #humormonth#hilariousheroes #sillyfaces to the #hilarioushero videos on our YouTube Page, we have sure kept busy LOLing this month.

Meanwhile, in music, we have been busy preparing for the concert, learning new instruments, composing new music, and (of course), dancing!

As you might have heard, due to Visa issues, I am required to leave Balikpapan on May 30. I am so sad to be missing the end-of-school events, but I plan to make the most of my last few weeks with the children.

I plan on telling Grades 1-8 about my leaving early, but will leave it to you to share the news with Pre-K and Kindergarteners as you see fit.

The concert will now take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. I'm excited to share this time with the students and families of PRIS.

Practice videos can be found on the YouTube Playlist or downloaded in the Google Drive Folder.

The video for The Wizard of Oz is here! The file is available and can be put on a flash drive or ordered in a commemorative DVD format. The DVDs are lovely and make great gifts for family and friends. They are 100,000 IDR each. Please give payment to Ms. Megan directly after you fill-out this form, by April 22 at the latest. DVDs cannot be ordered until payment is received. Monday is the last day to pay!

The songs from PRIS's The Wizard of Oz have been uploaded onto YouTube. Feel free to share on social media and with family and friends. The playlist can be found here.

If you would prefer the entire Wizard of Oz file on a flash drive, please bring a flash drive to school, clearly labeled with your oldest child's name. The flash drive must have at least 6 GB of space. You can leave the drive on Ms. Megan's desk in the library and it should be returned to you in a couple days.

FUNNY PRIS Kids!

We have a whole ton of extremely funny jokes this week from our PRIS #hilariousheroes.

This month we are celebrating humor as one of our superhero traits. Look-out for all of the silly faces posted on our Instagram (handle: prismusiclibrary). #humormonth#hilariousheroes #sillyfaces Below is a sampling from Pre-K:

We have started practicing for our final concert, "PRIS Final Chapter". It would be wonderful if students could practice at home. The practice lyrics can be found on the PRIS Final Chapter Practice Playlist and individually: Pre-K/KGrades 1/2, and Grades 3-8. MP3 tracks should be available in the Google Drive Practice Folder (along with lyrics).

Check-out the YouTube Channel (handle: prismusicvideos) for weekly videos of students telling their favorite silly stories and jokes.

Pre-K and Kindergarten students have started a Rhythm Band unit--watch for videos on the YouTube Page.

Grades 1-2 are learning some basics of ukulele and recorder.

Grades 3-4 are also studying recorder, with the option to continue on ukulele if they prefer.

And Grades 5-8 have started a joint Language Arts and Music unit involving poetry, lyrics, and composition, utilizing GarageBand, the keyboards, and other instrumentation.
