Ending November

This week, students in Grades 5-8 amazed us at Monday's assembly. In case you missed it:

Grade 1/2 students worked hard to record one of their pieces for the holiday concert. They recorded the vocals so that they can play drums with the track.

This week, in library, the students finished their gratitude cards and read books about gratefulness and thanksgiving. During parent/teacher conferences, we encourage parents to stop by the library and read some of the amazing cards the students, staff, and parents have written to their heroes.

We are continuing our preparations for the Holiday Concert on December 10, 2015. Grades 3-8 have received octavos (musical scripts) for this concert that they can use to practice with the YouTube Practice video. Grade 1-2 students also requested a YouTube practice playlist that can be found here. Other students can practice with the lyrics or mp3s:

Holiday Concert—All Grades—December 10

Grade 3/4 students should also be practicing the ukulele at home. Please let us know ASAP if your student will be unable to attend the holiday concert.

Congratulations to everyone who auditioned for The Wizard of Oz. Our first rehearsal is Monday, November 30, 2015. This is for all students in Grades 3-8. If there is a conflict, just let me know. Students will receive scripts, calendars, and all pertinent information.

End-of-Trimester Fun

Welcome to the end of the first trimester! The students have done a wonderful job this trimester and we've enjoyed working with them. A couple classes wanted to share their progress toward the Holiday Concert on the video below:

Please note, the holiday concert is Thursday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. We depend on each child for their involvement and participation, so if they will not be able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

In music, some of the students have chosen to take-on drumming for the holiday concert while others are content with rhythm instruments and

Middle School students are preparing for the holiday concert on December 10, 2015. They have received octavos (musical scripts) for this concert that they can use to practice with the YouTube Practice video. Grade 1-2 students also requested a YouTube practice playlist that can be found here. Other students can practice with the lyrics or mp3s:

Holiday Concert—All Grades—December 10

It is imperative that students listen to/practice this video often, even daily, as the concert is approaching quickly. With a little practice, the performance will not be difficult at all.

Wizard of Oz auditions are quickly approaching. All students in Grades 3-8 will audition next week. The audition times are linked below. Please note, some students are auditioning after school. Please let me know if this is a problem.

All students will audition. Students who do not wish to have a lead role in the musical may note that on the audition form. The audition preparation and effort will be part of every student's music grade, regardless of how involved they wish to be (or can be) with the musical.

Audition Folder (with mp3s of audition songs)

Students should bring the last page of the packet to the audition, filled-out and signed, front and back.

In library, students had a tech-week. Grades 1-4 worked in Destiny Quest. Grade 1-2 is working hard to sign-in, search for books, and add books to their online bookshelf. Grade 3-4 is writing short book reviews and rating books.
