Videos to Share!

This week, there are three fantastic videos to share. First, we have the long-awaited Holiday Concert video. Feel free to share the link with friends and family!

Next, our 3/4 class will teaching us the lyrics to our 100th Day of school songs that we are singing as a school on Wednesday. All classes have been introduced to these songs, but the lyrics may still be a struggle, so practicing at home is a plus!

Finally, our Pre-K classes have been really enjoying some new songs including, "I Can Sing a Rainbow." The students line up by clothing color in the front of the room to help everyone remember the song lyric order of colors.

The lyrics are:
Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, too.
Listen with your eyes, listening with your eyes, and sing everything you see.
And you can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, too.
Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, too.

Pre-K students also enjoyed singing "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" (complete with jumping at the appropriate time), "Where Do You Start Your Letters" and dancing to this week's dance song, "Everything is Awesome" from the LEGO Movie.

Lyric videos for the new songs in Pre-K can also be found on on the Pre-K Ages 3 & 4 YouTube Playlist.

Students in Grades 3/4 are starting their keyboarding unit a bit early with individual exploration. This short time gives the students a chance to explore all the fun songs and sounds that can come from an electric keyboard before they start their Keyboard Karate unit in a few weeks.

Other music classes have been partnering with PE this week to practice for their exciting upcoming Jedi Night performance.

Library classes are continuing their unit on technology in the library, learning to search and check-out by themselves. Grade 3/4 students also are learning to use "Destiny Quest," a "Goodreads" type site that is confined to titles and friends in the school library. Here students can update what books they've read/are reading/want to read, review books and rate books.

Annie, Jr. rehearsals are still plugging along, blocking three more scenes this week. Students should have their lines and blocking memorized by Monday at the latest as we start dance and technical rehearsals.

Students can view the rehearsal calendar, practice the songs and get other powerful information in the Annie, Jr. Google Drive Folder. Information and a calendar are also on the left-hand side of this blog.

Progress and more Progress!

We start with a video of highlights from the week. First, you will see the Pre-K 3 & 4-year-old combined class sing "Grizzly Bear." You might recall a video of them playing the game a few weeks ago. Now, their goal is to learn the song. Second, you will see the Grade 1-2 class singing "Let it Go" (impromptu) while watching a short clip of a harp and piano demonstration.

The combined KG-2 class started a project on Monday. They are rewriting the lyrics to a silly rhyming song called, "I've a Pair of Fishes." Ask them to sing this song at home and they will surely put on a show. Below are pictures of the groups each creating their own verse to the song.

The Pre-K classes not only sung "Grizzly Bear," but we learned three new songs, "If You're Happy and You Know It", "Where Do You Start Your Letters?", and "I Can Sing a Rainbow." Please find most of the new songs on the Pre-K YouTube Playlist so they can sing them at home!

In library, students are making progress with self check-out and search strategies. The Grade 3/4 class started making non-fiction research lists on the library program, Destiny.

The Pre-K combined class again read and checked-out in small groups. The author of the week was Dr. Seuss.

Here is the KG/1 class learning how the barcode scanner works. All students successfully checked-out their own books!

Grades 3-8 had four hours of Annie, Jr. rehearsal this week. A special treat was having Mr. Josh, our Oliver Warbucks actor, join us for rehearsals. We are making huge amounts of progress and are excited to share our production with you on March 12th & 13th.

Here is a playlist with color-coded Annie, Jr. songs with lyrics.

Students can view the rehearsal calendar, practice the songs and get other powerful information in the Annie, Jr. Google Drive Folder. Information and a calendar are also on the left-hand side of this blog.

Annie actors must have their lines and blocking memorized by February 1.
