Intro to the Holidays

This was an exciting week! The students were introduced to the songs they will play and sing on the Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 10. Pre-K will do a "rhythm band" with drums, bells and xylophones; kindergarten will perform on the handbells; grade 1/2 will work with original ostinati on rhythm instruments; grade 3/4 will present on ukulele and possibly xylophones; and, grades 5-8 will perform original compositions on the boomwhackers.

Grades 1/2 are working hard on their Tingalayo projects, focusing this week on the instrument each group chose to keep a steady beat. It's a challenge to keep the beat without speeding-up or slowing-down. Parents, look for a presentation of their works-in-progress on EasyBlogs this week!

YOU’RE  INVITED
Drumming instructor, Andy Gleadhill, will be here next week working with our students on African Drumming, South American Drumming, and composing. Andy is an expert visiting us from England!

Parents are invited to attend his opening demonstration on Thursday, November 12 at 8:20 a.m. in the Undercover Area.

Musical Auditions—Grades 3-8—November 24

Holiday Concert—All Grades—December 10

Students should practice their lyrics for five minutes or less per day, if possible. Having the songs playing in the background while getting ready for school or playing is a good option. If you have trouble downloading the tracks to your device, please let me know.

Students in Grades 1-4 were back to search skills this week. Grades 1/2 started learning where books are located in the library, finding some books on their own. Grades 3/4 updated their Destiny Quest Social Network and browsed for new books.

Next week, we will begin our Grateful for Our Heroes project please stop by the library sometime this month to write thank you notes to a hero in your life. Notecards can be found on the library table and will be displayed on the library doors.
