New Toys, Dance Parties and Rehearsal

In music class this week, we are busy preparing for our concert. We have found time, though, to enjoy the end-of-year dance parties to celebrate all of our songs of the week and to try out some new toys received in the order.

Remember, the end-of-year concert, The PRIS Factor is quickly approaching. The evening will include an art auction at 6:00 p.m., concert at 6:30 p.m., and art bazaar at 7:45 p.m. Students should come to the auditorium by 6:10 p.m. dressed in their "own style". Our focus is unique students supporting each other as a team!

It would be hugely helpful if the students could review the songs at home, either by watching the videos or even just listening to the songs in the background while doing other things.

You can just select the video matching the appropriate grade-level.

MP3s, Lyrics and Downloadable videos: PRIS Factor Practice Folder (Google Drive)
Rather not rely on the internet? The above folder will allow you to download the lyric powerpoint, the MP3s (audio only) and the videos into a format compatible with most devices. This way the kids can practice anywhere, anytime.

We are hoping for good concert attendance on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the PRCC. If your student will not be able to attend, please let me know as soon as possible.

In library, students are continuing with the counseling theme of transition and change, with Grades K-2 reading Wimberley Worried by Kevin Henkes. We talked about reasons to worry and how to cope with change. We even divided ourselves up on the spectrum from "Wimberley" to "Grandma". Wimberley is a big worrier whereas Grandma is a go-with-the-flow risk-taker.

In addition to reading books about moving, like Henry & Mudge and Annie's Good Move, the Pre-K students got a preview of some new books we have in the library. We read One Duck Stuck by Phylis Root and Jane Chapman and The Pigeon Needs a Bath by Mo Willems. Grades 3/4 just finished the read-aloud The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes, promoting positive friendships and understanding of the consequences of teasing and unkindness. Remember, many of these books can be found on the Book Read-Alouds YouTube Playlist.

There will be one more update this school year, but look for musical updates throughout the summer. Don't forget to check out the Library & Music YouTube Page (and subscribe)!
