Students have been continuing to prepare for the concert this week, including some join rehearsals and some lyric review. Children are encouraged to keep practicing until the day before the concert to keep the tunes and lyrics in their heads.

Annie rehearsals are well underway. Please remember, the links to the Annie folder are always on the top right of this blog, as well as below. Students should start practicing and memorizing lines and songs now. Having a personal goal for the end of break would be a great idea!
One of the students also found an excellent resource on YouTube, a playlist with color-coded Annie, Jr. songs with lyrics.
Students can view the rehearsal calendar, practice the songs and get other powerful information in the Annie, Jr. Google Drive Folder.
In library, students read a pop-up version of The 12 Days of Christmas and one of my favorites, The Little Engine that Could.
Grade 3/4 students also played a relay game to help them learn where authors are located in the library. Our goal for the new year is to expand and improve search skills!
Some classes who won't have a full library time next week will be reading Welcome Comfort by Patricia Polacco this week, my favorite Christmas book. I invite you to ask them about what the author's message of this book.
Library Announcement:
Reading daily is so important to growth and literacy, so the library is encouraging students to read every day over the holiday break. To support this, we are allowing each student to check out two books the week before break (a change from past practice of collecting all library books the week before vacations). We ask that families try to keep track of these books and return them after the holidays. The students have been taught how to keep books "happy". We look forward to seeing all books returned in their original condition after the holidays.
